Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer and television host, as well as philanthropist as well as the owner and editor of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she relocated to England at the age of 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. At 21 she became president of the renowned debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student to do so. She was a conservative syndicated writer after her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a few years later, she developed an online platform for voice that offered criticisms on political scenarios. The fame of Arianna led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna became famous in 2003 after she decided to stand as an independent candidate for the California recall election in order to succeed the then governor Davis. Alongside this she was the leader of the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. Forbes named her the most powerful female in the media industry in the year 2009. Her ranking was at 12th place on their listing. The Guardian added her to the list of 100 most influential media outlets in the year 2009. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as president of the media group, which also included other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli has two siblings, Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who both are journalist and management consultants. Her life was shaped by the closeness she had to her mother, and the bond she shared with her father despite her being very close to the latter. In her early years she showed her leadership skills and is a household name. When she was 16 she relocated into the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She enrolled in Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college, where she was the third female to hold the position of the president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master's in Economics. Following after graduation she became an editor of the critic's column and a television host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
